Understanding Genital Warts And Their Treatments

The CDC estimates approximately 20,000,000 people in the United States are currently infected with HPV. In the United States alone 1% of sexually active adults have warts. That is a very high number if you didn’t realize it.

The majority of genital warts go unnoticed and undetected so you have nothing to worry about. Of course, there are cases where genital warts become very noticeable and obvious, therefore, treatment is necessary. You don’t want your partner finding out you have genital warts but sometimes it can’t be avoided especially if your outbreak is so apparent. You can’t hide from your partner every single night, eventually they will want to know what is wrong and you will have to confess.

There are ceratin levels or degrees of genital warts also. The human papillomavirus (HPV) is known to produce this infection on the skin and on the mucus membranes. HPV types six and 11 typically shows up externally. They appear as warts around the vulva, anus and penis. HPV types 16 and 18 develop as warts on the mucous membranes that line the cervix, urethra, rectum and vagina. These types are also associated with anal, cervical and rectal cancers. Yes, genital warts are not pretty or glamorous by any means.

If you ignore your problem instead of learning how to get rid of genital warts then you are asking for more trouble then you are willing to deal with surely. Genital warts can grow fairly large, start to bleed, cause extreme irritation and will make you wish you received treatment a lot sooner then you did (if you did).

You must do the necessary research before applying any types of creams and ointments to the infected area. You don’t want to develop a rash or further irritation to your genital area. The best way to remove this infection depends on the size and location of the warts. Some of the medications that are used may simply remove the infection but have no effect on the virus itself keep in mind. The HPV is an underlying virus that has no cure, you can only control and maintain it without ever killing it permanently.

People have been so embarrassed about their genital warts.  They purchase wart removal creams for hands and feet. Warts are not all the same so these types of creams will not work for genital warts. If you thought of this method before you should stop because you will not get anywhere.

In conclusion, check with your doctor before taking any medications for your genital warts. If you don’t want to see a doctor because of your condition then do as much research as possible in order to determine the best solution for your genital warts (if that is what you have).
